Promise: How to Find Your Passion and Be Inspired

First, thank you for having me on the show.  It’s an honor.  The reason you should listen today is because people need to get inspired.  If you want to create anything, you need to be inspired, and again, I am known as the “Inspiration to Creation Coach”.  I am passionate about helping people create what they want in their life, whether that’s a book, or a blog, or a business, or a new relationship, or more productivity.  It doesn’t really matter to me what they want to create, but I think that we all have this desire to create something. I think it’s important to be inspired because the way that you achieve what I call, “inspired results,” is to take inspired action.  You have to have that purpose and passion, combined, to actually get inspired to take some action.  If you don’t take action, you won’t get the results.

What I do is I try to work with people to find their passion, whatever it is that they are passionate about.  If we have to discover that, then we will.  We combine that with our purpose.  I think that everyone has a purpose.  The overriding purpose, I think, is really to be authentic and connected to whatever you think. Let that flow through so that we are just out best selves.  I think that’s, sort of, the overriding purpose that we have in our lifetime. You can find me at NinaAmir.com, and I’m everywhere in social media, just by Nina Amir.  So it’s pretty easy to find me.  I work one-on-one with people going through the certified high-performance coaching curriculum to help them to level up.  You know, we talk about peak performance, which is, you get into that moment of flow and then it’s gone.  It’s like climbing to the summit of a mountain, and then sliding all of the way back down and having to climb back up. High performance is like climbing to the summit, and seeing the next one, and climbing up to that.  It’s about leveling up all of the time, in every area of our life.  As we go through the pillars, it affects us in so many ways.  So, whether you are writing or creating something else, it doesn’t really matter, high performance is going to help. I do work with people one-on-one, but I also have a high-performance writer group coaching program.  That’s where I bring in 10 or 15 people at a time, and we go through the same curriculum. Thanks for having me.  First of all, if you are thinking of publishing a book, or if you have already published a book and you aren’t getting good sales or have gotten some bad reviews, you may want to consider hiring a professional book designer.  The tendency today in independent publishing, self-publishing, is to do it yourself, and that’s, for lack of a better term, a crap-shoot.  You are going to be in the wild wild west of not knowing what you want to do, not meeting the printer’s specifications, and just not having a very professional design.

I think that if you’re serious about publishing your book… This is a business.  Independent publishing, or self-publishing, is a business.  You’ve got to treat it that way.  To do that, you’ve got to hire professionals.  I would say, first and foremost, for authors who design their own books, or want to, take a hard look at your skills, and be honest, and step back a little bit because you really do need to be very objective about your goals.  It’s a profession, and you get what you pay for in this industry, so you really do need to hire a professional. Do people really judge a book by its cover? Absolutely, and in fact, it’s the gateway to your book. [bctt tweet="Research shows that we have less than 10 seconds before a potential buyer makes a decision on a book cover" via="no"]It’s a subjective thing, but it’s something that makes them want to go to a bookshelf, pick it up, and look at the back, or click on the thumbnail at Amazon to see what the “Look Inside” feature is.  So you’ve got a very, very short timespan to really capture someone’s attention, no matter what the genre.

First of all, I’m excited to be here.  I’ve published nearly a thousand books as a publishing company.  So, what we are going to give you are our top seven ways for generating sales, especially if you have an eBook/Kindle book that’s already out there and it’s working, or even if you’re working on your first.  These are the seven things that we do in order to build sales that last for the long term. Here’s the thing.  I actually got my start with Amazon’s Advantage Program, which was the program that they had way before Kindle Direct Publishing came in place.  It’s actually still around to this day, if you go to Amazon.com/Advantage.  That program was specifically for authors of physical books, where Amazon would order 10, 20, 30, 50, 100 copies of your book at a time.  You would ship them out to Amazon, and they would then fulfill your orders and ship the books out as your orders came in.

Shortly after that, I got invited to be part of Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing platform, which was, I want to say, seven years ago now.  Almost seven years ago, so I was one of the first pioneers, and like I said, we’ve sold hundreds of thousands of different books.  We have almost 1,000 books that we’ve published under our publishing company, and we do extremely well, every single month, just publishing books on Amazon. We use these kinds of tools because I understand that technology can be overwhelming, and because that can feel that way for a lot of people.
