Thank you so much for having me, and I want to say a big “Hello” to everyone out there.  The reason why we are here today is that I’m really excited to share how you can take advantage of some very popular trends and also emerging technology.  This emerging technology is going to allow you to make money and grow your business in ways that you were never able to do before.  By getting into the forefront of this trend, where people are spending millions, billions, and even almost trillions of dollars within these industries, you are going to be able to grow your business. Most people know that most people don’t qualify to get a Wikipedia page.  So, when someone is doing a search for you, your organization, your product, your service, your book, they are going to see it.  Usually, it’s one of the top items in search results. People see that you have a Wikipedia page, and it’s like, “Oh!”  It just adds a real layer of credibility.  I’m sure each of the members of this audience have experienced this when they were looking for someone or something and find that there’s a Wikipedia page.  It causes a person’s perception of something to go up another notch.

Promise: How to Find Your Passion and Be Inspired

First, thank you for having me on the show.  It’s an honor.  The reason you should listen today is because people need to get inspired.  If you want to create anything, you need to be inspired, and again, I am known as the “Inspiration to Creation Coach”.  I am passionate about helping people create what they want in their life, whether that’s a book, or a blog, or a business, or a new relationship, or more productivity.  It doesn’t really matter to me what they want to create, but I think that we all have this desire to create something. I think it’s important to be inspired because the way that you achieve what I call, “inspired results,” is to take inspired action.  You have to have that purpose and passion, combined, to actually get inspired to take some action.  If you don’t take action, you won’t get the results.

What I do is I try to work with people to find their passion, whatever it is that they are passionate about.  If we have to discover that, then we will.  We combine that with our purpose.  I think that everyone has a purpose.  The overriding purpose, I think, is really to be authentic and connected to whatever you think. Let that flow through so that we are just out best selves.  I think that’s, sort of, the overriding purpose that we have in our lifetime. Thanks for having me.  First of all, if you are thinking of publishing a book, or if you have already published a book and you aren’t getting good sales or have gotten some bad reviews, you may want to consider hiring a professional book designer.  The tendency today in independent publishing, self-publishing, is to do it yourself, and that’s, for lack of a better term, a crap-shoot.  You are going to be in the wild wild west of not knowing what you want to do, not meeting the printer’s specifications, and just not having a very professional design.

I think that if you’re serious about publishing your book… This is a business.  Independent publishing, or self-publishing, is a business.  You’ve got to treat it that way.  To do that, you’ve got to hire professionals.  I would say, first and foremost, for authors who design their own books, or want to, take a hard look at your skills, and be honest, and step back a little bit because you really do need to be very objective about your goals.  It’s a profession, and you get what you pay for in this industry, so you really do need to hire a professional. Do people really judge a book by its cover? Absolutely, and in fact, it’s the gateway to your book. [bctt tweet="Research shows that we have less than 10 seconds before a potential buyer makes a decision on a book cover" via="no"]It’s a subjective thing, but it’s something that makes them want to go to a bookshelf, pick it up, and look at the back, or click on the thumbnail at Amazon to see what the “Look Inside” feature is.  So you’ve got a very, very short timespan to really capture someone’s attention, no matter what the genre.

Here’s the thing.  I actually got my start with Amazon’s Advantage Program, which was the program that they had way before Kindle Direct Publishing came in place.  It’s actually still around to this day, if you go to Amazon.com/Advantage.  That program was specifically for authors of physical books, where Amazon would order 10, 20, 30, 50, 100 copies of your book at a time.  You would ship them out to Amazon, and they would then fulfill your orders and ship the books out as your orders came in.

Amy Collins Welcome to this edition of the Real Fast Results podcast!  Many of the listeners of this podcast are either authors or aspire to be such.  In fact, some already have a book out through some sort of print on demand service or on Kindle.  For the most part, they are self-published, and a lot of self-published authors struggle with is how to go about selling more books. Amy Collins is today’s special guest, and she is the former director of sales at Adam’s Media in Austin, Tx.  She’s also a specialty sales director for the parent company F+W Media.  She has been profitably selling to libraries since 1996, and in 2006, she started her successful book sales and marketing company, called New Shelves Books.  Over the years, she has sold to Barnes & Noble, Target, Costco, Borders, Books-A-Million, Walmart as well as becoming a trusted partner and recommended sales consultant for some of the largest book and library wholesalers in the industry. Obviously, Amy has been very successful when it comes to selling books, but what really makes Amy truly unique is the fact that she was also a book buyer for a large regional bookstore chain.  So, she’s experienced on both sides of the book-selling transaction.  During her very, very sterling career in publishing, Amy has been responsible for selling over 40,000,000 books for small and mid-sized publishers.  This is a great feat indeed.  Please welcome Amy to the show…

John has helped a lot of people to be successful.  Stephen Covey, who wrote 7 Habits of Highly Effective Peopleis just one example.  Stephen actually said that Kremer was instrumental to this book becoming one of the most influential business books of the 20th century.  Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen are also big fans of John’s work.  As a matter of fact, Jack actually said that if you wanted to sell 600,000,000 books like they had, with the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, you should read and use John’s book.

Promise: Actionable Ideas for Your Email Marketing

On today’s show, I’m going to show you 20 things that you can do which are completely independent of your auto-responder or how you’re sending email.  This includes things that you put in your email, how you control your sites, indicators of quality, the destinations in the body of emails (links), and your home address.  These are 20 things that you’re going to be able to take action on today, and you are going to be able to deliver more email because of it. These are all things that you control, not the auto-responder.  It can’t help you here.  In 2015, I started saying that 50% of delivery were on the auto-responder and the other 50% was on you.  In 2016, this changed even more drastically.  It’s now 60% you and 40% the auto-responder that actually sends the email. The promise we can make today is that we will help you understand being a hoarder, a pack rat, or a clutter collector is not a personality trait that we’re born with.  It’s not a character flaw.  It’s not like, “Oh, this is how I am, and this is how I’ll always be.”  It’s a habit, and that habit can be broken.
